Lay Eucharistic Visitors
Time : 30 minutes to 1 hour per month
Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs) are licensed by the Diocese of Oklahoma to distribute previously blessed elements of Holy Communion to persons unable to attend regular worship services. LEVs represent the church to the homebound and serve as a reminder that they are an integral part of the Body of Christ. This provides a sense of connection to those who might otherwise feel isolated. This ministry serves a vital purpose for the church and its congregation to stay in communion and relationship, through the Holy Communion, with those who are unable to attend church due to illness or physical incapacity. This ministry of “presence” is a blessing to the person who is visited and to the Lay Eucharistic Visitor as well.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
Let a Lay Eucharistic Visitor bring Eucharist to you if you are having surgery or are away from the church for an extended period. If you know of someone that might appreciate receiving Eucharist please let us know and we can reach out to them.
LEV’s are the ones who come up after everyone has taken communion and you will hear the priest say to them "In the name of this congregation, I send you forth bearing these Holy gifts, that those to whom you go may share with us in the body and blood of Christ." Those are your Lay Eucharistic Visitors preparing to take the sacraments consecrated at the altar to those who can't be with us.
