Vestry Update: August 2023
Vestry approved the findings of the Internal Audit which will then be sent to the Diocese for consideration. St Paul's is looking sound, and thanks go to Rachel DeVey, Jana Plowman, and Natalie Stanford for serving on the Audit Committee.
Vestry approved new delegates to Convention, with a good mix of Vestry and non-Vestry members.
Vestry further approved of an official Land Acknowledgement, long and short forms. Those will be shared starting on Oakerhater Sunday. St Paul's is actively pursuing awareness and understanding of Indigenous peoples and the role of Indigenous ministries.
Stewardship has added Consecration of Space to its consideration, which already included Time, Treasure, and Talent. The Dean shared some of the visitation and new membership numbers, which all point to St Paul's being vital and growing.
The Senior Warden shared next steps for the Capital Improvement discernment process - including tidying up the narratives and prospective budgets for projects in each of the three categories (need to do, should do, and would like to do).
The Junior Warden shared progress on the various current capital improvements, including the elevator (work has begun!), glass window improvements, roofing, gutters, and the boiler. Many thanks were given for Todd Olberding's continued work.
The Dean encouraged Vestry members to reach out to her or other clergy with spiritual needs, not just the practical matters of the Cathedral.
~Respectfully Submitted, Samonia Byford
