October 25, 2023 - Staff Transitions and Additions
Beloveds,
As many of you know, Mother Sarah has been away from our community since early September. It was a time of rest and discernment for her as she reflected on her next season of ministry beyond the Cathedral.
Mother Sarah’s time at St. Paul’s is ending, and she is transitioning to a new role in her ministry. She has loved us well, and her presence among us was a gift. This is the beauty and challenge of curacies; they bring fresh and new personalities among us but do not last forever. I have enjoyed having Mother Sarah as a partner in ministry and am grateful for her time among us. Mother Sarah's discernment has led to a call to Emmanuel, Shawnee.
From Mother Sarah:
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve my hometown with you all for my first year of priesthood. You all welcomed me with open arms and embraced all of me. I am forever grateful for the love we shared during hospital visits, meals around many tables, fishing retreats, beautiful worship, pub theology, and serving our friends from the streets during the cold weather snaps. My hope for you and me is to continue sharing God's love in all that we do as every encounter with creation is an opportunity to participate in God's relational love. And until we meet again, in practice and in purpose, aim true and shoot straight.”
Diocesan policy guides full closure of relationships as clergy transition from one parish to another, and we at the Cathedral will honor that she is now the good people of Emmanuel Shawnee’s priest. Please pray for Mother Sarah in her transition and for the good things God has in store for her. A basket will be out this Sunday for those who want to leave her a card.
As you may have seen on social media, we have welcomed Chris Albright to the Cathedral staff as our Director of Facilities. With over 40 thousand square feet of buildings and grounds, Chris's care and attention to our facilities are much needed. Chris comes to us from the Memorial Museum, where he has worked diligently as part of their facilities team. Additionally, Chris comes to us from the pews, and many of us are already acquainted with him. Welcome, Chris; we are glad you are here!
As always, I am available to each of you.
Faithfully yours,
Dean Churchwell+
